The Vanier CGS program has consistently attracted world-class students. To evaluate the program and make changes as needed, the Vanier-Banting Secretariat convened a panel of past and present Vanier selection committee members. They examined a purposive sample of Vanier CGS nominees and scored each one on world-class quality.
The flaming chalice is a common symbol in UU faith communities. This symbol is often the first experience that children have with worship. Its origins are tied to the Unitarian Service Committee, which used it to aid refugees during World War II. It has since evolved into a ritual in UU communities.
